Everyone knows our cities are choking and our lives are becoming less livable. Pollution-related diseases are rising, and climate change is no longer a distant threat — it’s a daily reality. But what many don’t realise is that a simple, practical solution already exists.
Positive actions are contagious. When people see others cycling or walking to work — and being appreciated for it — they are more likely to follow. This ripple effect can shift an entire city’s mindset.
Our happiness and peace are being stolen by endless honking and smoke-filled streets. Across the world, traffic congestion, air pollution, and urban stress are eroding the very fabric of everyday life. What used to be short commutes have become hours lost in toxic, noisy gridlock. Children breathe unsafe air. Elders are confined indoors. Working professionals spend more time behind wheels than with their families. Vehicular traffic has become a silent epidemic.
The physical and mental health consequences are staggering — from rising asthma and heart disease to anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion. Cities built for cars are now destroying the very people they were meant to serve.
CityTurtles is a direct response to this crisis.
We’re building a citizen-powered movement that replaces car dependency with climate-conscious mobility — walking, cycling, and collective action. And through our unique Behavioural Climate Reward System (BCRS), every step or pedal forward becomes a measurable, rewarded act of change.
This is more than a movement. It’s a redesign of how we live.
Why is it possible?
Approximately 70% of urban commutes in India are under 10 km ( Source: CSRBOX & Nagarro Report, How Urban India Moves, 2022 ) a distance that can be easily walked or cycled in 15–30 minutes. Even in sprawling Indian metros, the average commute is often just 6–7 km. These short trips don’t need a car. They don’t require fossil fuels. All they need is safe, enabling infrastructure and the right behavioural incentives. The potential to transform our cities is real — and it starts with making everyday mobility human again.
Urban transport is responsible for nearly 25% of global CO₂ emissions (Source: Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – Sixth Assessment Report -2021) , yet the solution is astonishingly simple and already within reach. In most cities. Its just a matter of incentivising it and poppularising it.
